Dust off your ghost costume, Phish is playing a three night festival at a yet-to-be-determined location on Halloween weekend, a Phish.com announcement revealed.
Many people in the Phish community are speculating the 10/30, 10/31, and 11/1 festivities will take place on the same grounds as the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California. As of right now however, Phish has only officially announced a “save the date.”
Mark your calendars.
This will be the bands first Halloween concert since 1998, when they performed The Velvet Underground album “Loaded” in its entirety. Covering an entire album in its entirety became a Phish tradition, as they performed a “musical costume” in 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1998.
Will Phish cover an entire album this time around?
One can only speculate what they would cover if they did, perhaps a Michael Jackson album to honor the recently departed King of Pop?
Musical costumes of the past include:
1994 – The Beatles “White Album”
1995 – The Who “Quadrophenia”
1996 – Talking Heads “Remain In Light”
1998 – The Velvet Underground “Loaded”
One exception to the rule was two days after Halloween on November 2, 1998 when fans were treated to a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon.” A download of that show can be found here.
Stay tuned for downloads of all the past Halloween “Musical Costume” performances.
