Every first Thursday of the month, the Seattle art scene becomes the star attraction as Pioneer Square becomes the host for an "art walk." 30 + venues participate, including bars, restaurants, and shops. Galleries hang new art and keep their doors open from noon until 8 PM. It's a spot to make a friend or show some love!
In the afternoon, singles and couples can be seen strolling through rooms as if in a daze. But as the evening rolls around, mixing and mingling becomes the unofficial rule as the crowds grow and turn what started as a semi serious art study into a social networking function of strangers in the night, exchanging glances. So you can meet people if you have the nerve to break through the Seattle nice.
Back in the day, some galleries passed out complimentary glasses of wine. This is not the case anymore. So don't expect to get a glass of wine to stroll around with. But there's plenty of lounges and bars amongst the galleries. So it's not a challenge to find a place nearby to stop in and buy a drink to sip by yourself or with a companion!
