Nearly every parent has battled with scrub a dub time. Making bathtime fun can be easy and simple. Here are a few quick tips:
*Purchase toys made especially for the tub, such as the tried and true rubber ducks to the right, and reserve this toys for bathtime only. If the toys are special, it may be just the incentive your child needs to stop fighting and start scrubbing.
*Try special shampoos and soaps that change color, bubble or do other fun things. This can make bathtime fun.
*Play games, such as adding bubbles to the water and creating bubble beards on your child's face. Let your child add one to your face too. Be careful of bubble baths if your child is prone to urinary tract infections.
*Create a chart and let your child add a star each time he or she completes bath time. After so many stars, allow him to choose a new bathtime toy or other treat.
*Make bathtime a routine. If your child realizes that there is a daily routine of dinner, bath and bed, he or she will be more likely to go along.
There are always exceptions to any rule. Some children will fight about baths no matter what you do, others will find ducks boring. Part of making bathtime fun is being flexible and creative and finding what works best for your family.
