The Texas Education Administration (TEA) has released a document that further clarifies the new graduation requirements for the 2009-2010 school year in light of the passage of House Bill 3.

The new requirements were previously reported in this article as removing the requirements for technology applications, health, and communications, along with 1/2 of the credits required for physical education.

The release of this document clarifies that communications will still be required for Texas students. This is because the graduation requirements outlined by the Texas State Board of Education include the communications requirement. Students will have to use one of the six elective credits available to them under the recommended plan in order to fulfill the communications requirement. An FAQ on the TEA website further clarifies that, although seniors this year will not have to complete tech apps or health, they still fall under the 3x3 and will not have to complete a fourth year of science or math.
