From parades to plays, Philadelphia's offerings for the Thanksgiving season are endless!                                    Photo courtesy of http://www.drexel.edu/univrel/digest/archive/112205/ thanksgiving.jpg

With Halloween hayrides and pumpkin patches a dating dream of the past, it is time to look forward to Tryptophan haziness and football frenzy.  So before getting lost in a turkey dinner or the television, how about trying these date ideas:

  1. Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade - on Thanksgiving Day, from 8:30am until about noon, snuggle up with your date while watching entertaining floats and performances.  Try grabbing a spot near the Philadelphia Art Museum or along the Benjamin Parkway for the best seats in the house.
  2. Philadelphia Marathon - running . . . on a date?!  How can that be fun?  Well this date idea is certainly for the more athletically inclined couple, but the Philadelphia Marathon on November 22nd offers shorter runs (like the Rothman Institute 8k) as well as the full 26.2 miler.  No matter which course you may choose to tackle, you will have ample time to jog and chat with your guy or girl.  Hate the idea of running but still want to explore healthy lifestyle tips with your partner?  Check out the Health and Fitness Expo at the Philadelphia Convention Center Friday, November 20th and Saturday, November 21st.
  3. Philly Phiz Fest - Sample copious amounts of America's favorite fizzy alcoholic drink on November 12th at the Park Hyatt at the Bellevue.   Coin the term "champling" - sampling champagne!  Visit this website for great savings on tickets!
  4. Lizanne Knott concert - free at the Kimmel Center on November 20th at 5:30pm, Lizanne Knott captures audiences with her soul infused folk and much more.  Good music for an unbeatable price!
  5. Oliver! - The Walnut Street Theatre is bringing one of Broadway's favorites to Philadelphia.  Running from November 10th to January 10th, go see the Dickens classic and show your date you have a bit of culture.
