Well this is the last day of Tequila Month at Examiner and I have to admit, I’m a little sad. Although next month will be very interesting as it will be Bourbon Month.
So to finish out tequila month, once more we will look at the Tres Generaciones Tequila. In my last
post The rich history of the Sauza Tequila family and Tres Generaciones Tequila, I talked about the history of the Sauza family their tequila and today will get into each of the three versions. The Plata, Reposado and Añejo. Each has its own distinct character but all share the family characteristics of authentic agave flavor, smooth drinking style and supreme quality. These characteristics stem from a production process that embraces the wisdom and secrets of all three Dons, perfected over the course of 135 years of distilling.

First is the Plata Tequila. It is un-aged, crystal clear tequila made from 100% blue agave. It is triple-distilled, giving it a unique pure agave taste and smoothness. Brilliantly clear and colorless, mild aroma, flesh agave with hints of citrus and floral notes. Smooth and light in body. The initial spiciness is on a background of herbs and fresh agave. It is exceptionally well balanced with no bite or burn.
Next on to the Repasado Tequila. This tequila is naturally made from 100% blue agave. It is triple-distilled for smoothness, then rested in American Oak barrels for at least four months. This bright gold tequila has pepper, spice tastes and herbs in balance with light oak character. It has a smooth, round and slightly sweet body with an initial spiciness, with toasted oak, on a background of herbs and fresh agave.
Last but not least is the Añejo Tequila with a rich, 100% blue agave flavor enhanced by 12 months in toasted American oak barrels where it gains its delicate amber hue, an array of subtle flavors, and its unique smooth, smoky finish. It is pale amber in color with a round, smooth and complex strong toasted oak, light-cooked agave and a hint of caramel-vanilla sweetness. It taste is full and balanced. It starts with brown sugar, fades soft oak and clean agave, with a warm oak finish.
