Well it is that time of year again when mixologist, bartenders, cocktail enthusiast, food lovers, c
ocktail book authors all descend on New Orleans for the 7th annual Tales of the Cocktail. This year it is being held from July 8th thru the 12th.
This will be my 6th year to attend and I can hardly wait. Last year I was on the panel for The 1st Annual Vintage Bar Cocktail Shaker & Bar Ware Collectors Symposium.
This year along with Stephen Visakay, author of the book Vintage Bar Ware and Mark Bigler of cocktailshakers.com/ we will be on the panel of The Vintage Bar Ware Collectors Symposium being held at The Museum of the American Cocktail. Here is a link to their site museumoftheamericancocktail.org/
This year we will be talking about the histories of Norman Bel Geddes, the Forman Brothers, the Napier Co. & the Zeppe;in cocktail shaker. We will also be giving away $1000 in bar ware.
Last year I served a cocktail during the Cocktail Hour that was my reinvention of the Clover Club. I called it the Crimsom Clover Club. I used vodka instead of gin and replced the grenadine with raspberry liquor.
That's me shaking up Cromson Clover Clubs in a 1940s Hazel Atlas cocktail shaker. Here is the recipe...
The Crimson Clover Club
2 oz Vodka
1 oz Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
1/2 oz Raspberry Liquor
1 or 2 Dashes Peychaud’s Bitters
The White of One Egg (1 tbls Pasteurized Eggs Whites)
Combine all ingredients and shake with cracked ice for at least 30 seconds to combine and give it a nice froth.
Garnish with a Lemon Wheel
