The Millenium Stage at the Kennedy Center has undertaken the noble goal of providing a free show every day at 6 pm. They have provided a great opportunity for both viewers and performers to expand on each others' lives.
The Kennedy Center's artistic director for Jazz, Dr. Billy Taylor, has put together Jazz in DC, a wonderful set of artists every day this week (and a couple of great shows over the past weekend) that highlight the Capital City's jazz scene. Session greats like Bobby Felder, modern jazz group "The Young Lions", and the Howard University Jazz Emsemble (along with vocalist Sharon Clark) will all grace the stage different nights this week.
DC may be famous for Duke Ellington, but the music culture and scene that he came from was there before him, and continues to thrive. Check it out all week long.
The Kennedy Center is at 2700 F St. NW in DC. It is a short walk or free shuttle ride from the Foggy Bottom Metro. All Millenium Stage shows are FREE and begin at 6 pm, unless otherwise noted.
