World what?? The newest form of research and technology is up and going strong. What is it you ask? The World Community Grid is a science and technology dream come true. www.worldcommunitygrid.org The research that is conducted requires the use of huge CPU power, more than can be achieved by today's standards for the type of research being done. In order to conduct these huge research studies, scientists utilize the idle computers CPU's from volunteers around the world. It is an awesome way to help humanity.

For example, any person can go to the above link and look at the various studies currently open: SETI@home is one such study which is seeking responses from extraterrestrial life, or Climate Prediction  which gives a future depiction of the worlds climate as we continue forward with global warming. There are hundreds to choose from. Once you have selected a study or two you simply download the BOINC manager and watch the results. They even have fascinating screen savers that show you real time activity on your computer.
