Folk pop singer/songwriter, Tyrone Wells will perform as part of the Thursday at The Square concert series at Lafayette Square on Thursday, June 18. He will be joined by band members Mike Kopolus (guitar/keys/vocals), Aaron Bishop (bass/vocals) and Mark Chipello (drums/percussion).

The son of a preacher, Tyrone Wells, grew up in Spokane, Washington. In the mid-90's, Wells moved to California to attend college and he joined Skypark, a Christian rock band. After releasing a few records and experiencing minor success, Wells left the band to concentrate on his solo material.

Earlier this decade, Tyrone Wells put out three indie albums on True American Records: Tyrone Wells (2001), Snapshot (2003) and Hold On (2006). The singer released a live album in 2005 entitled Close: Live at McCains. His last independent release Hold On was picked up and released by Universal Republic in 2007.

The singers songs have been featured in television shows (Rescue Me, One Tree Hill, Numb3rs, Ghost Whisper, etc) and film (Everyone's Hero). His current single More is now appearing in trailors for the new movie My Sister's Keeper starring Cameron Diaz, Alec Baldwin, and Abigail Breslin.

For his latest release, Remain, Tyrone Wells opted for a fuller sound to compliment his singer-songwriter roots. Remain, released earlier this year, is a solid pop/rock album. Roughly two dozen musicians, including former members of Snow Patrol, OneRepublic and Evanescence contributed to the album.

Tyrone Wells will be supporting Better Than Ezra at "The Square" on June 18. Thursday at the Square concerts are free to the public and take place from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in Lafayette Square in Downtown Buffalo.

Looking ahead: the current tour with Better Than Ezra wraps up at the House of Blues in Chicago, Illinois on June 27. Tyrone Wells will play Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the following day. In July, Wells and his band have a handful of shows scheduled in California as well as a Block Party gig in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
