Looks like the big Jon and Kate announcement was spoiled early -- according to People magazine, Jon and Kate Gosselin have filed for divorce.
On Monday, June 22nd, divorce documents were filed in the Berks County courthouse seemingly ending the Jon and Kate divorce speculation and conjecture as to where the couple's relationship was heading.
While the writing has been on the wall for months, with Jon seen gallivanting around with a young woman and Kate rumored to be linked to a romantic relationship with her bodyguard who has been noticeably MIA lately, the reality of the situation is both sad and unfortunate.
Even with the Gosselin critics out there, the schadenfreude of the situation is nothing to celebrate. I have to admit, I was secretly hoping they would get back together or get counseling. They were once pretty great together. This is a somber dose of what fame and fortune can do to a family. I was hoping they could put their differences aside for the children. It's hard to imagine they're better off in this broken family and that it was too far to ever be repaired. One has to wonder, if they had never fallen into this lottery of theirs, would they still be together?
They're certainly not the first nor the last reality TV to split.
