'Vanity Fair' looks at the rise and fall of Jon and Kate Gosselin

In an internet exclusive, Nancy Jo Sales of Vanity Fair took a look at the tabloid sensation of the year, Jon and Kate Gosselin.

It's admittedly been a whirlwind up and down for TV's most famous reality show couple -- it's hard to believe that the media frenzy only really started about six months ago. As Kate tells Vanity Fair, she doesn't even remember being "paparazzi'd" until her and Jon renewed their wedding vows December 2008 in Hawaii. Kate said that the bevy of photographers in her face since then makes her feel "like a prisoner."

Then again, it's hard to feel sorry for a woman who seems to have had a plan for fame and fortune from early on, and who admits that she now actually likes being famous. Well, sorry Kate, if you want to be famous -- and not bother to be discreet about your private life -- the tabloid fodder is soon to follow.

Sales also takes a look at the fallout from Jon and Kate's highly publicized divorce -- which includes Jon and Kate Plus 8 ratings plunging to new lows, probably due to the public's Gosselin overload. Needless to say, when your show's ratings high comes because your marriage is falling apart and there's no hope of reconciliation, it's safe to say that your television career is short-lived at that point.

Kate also revealed to Sales that the Gosselin children have been "acting out" because of their parents' divorce as well as all the media attention being given them. Kate says:

I'm trying to give them the grace to see, if they're acting out of line, I'm trying to look deeper into why that is. Why the kids are acting out. Cause it's all inter-related. I mean, they don't see it, but it's all interconnected. They miss [Jon]. They say they miss him. I imagine they say the same thing when I'm away...

And at that point, with Kate beginning to paint a not-so-rosy picture of the Gosselin household, a TLC publicist shut down the interview.
