During a promo at the end of last night's episode of Jon and Kate Plus 8, TLC announced that next week, instead of the usual half-hour show featuring Jon and Kate Gosselin and their children, they would be airing a one hour special with Kate answering viewer questions.
Clearly -- despite TLC's insistence to the contrary -- the Jon and Kate Plus 8 saga is drawing to a close, and they're using filler to try and stretch out the show to every last inch of its life. Or perhaps they're trying to stall to see if Jon will relent and let them resume filming of his 8 children. In either instance, the show is clearly on life support and TLC is scrambling.
Don't expect any big reveals from the viewer Q&A session, however. Given that Kate appears almost scripted when answering questions in live interviews such as her appearance on Today and Larry King Live, surely pre-screened and pre-approved questions submitted via email will be softballs at best. After all, TLC has a brand to protect.
TLC has also put up a poll asking for viewers' favorite Jon and Kate Plus 8 moments so expect to also see a "best of" show also in the upcoming weeks.
The Kate Gosselin TLC special will air October 26 at 9/8c.
