Jaeli, 4 months

Jaeli is a 4-month old baby who is suffering from a chromosomal disorder so rare, it doesn't yet have a name.

Brandy, Jaeli's mother, has spent this short span of her daughter's life dealing with medical procedures, tests and hospital bills. She is seeking support in covering the costs of breast milk provided by The Mothers' Milk Bank of Ohio, a cost she can no longer afford.

Since Brandy is not able to express any milk herself, the only other option she has is to feed her child with formula that has caused severe reactions so far.

What started wiith a simple email to a friend and requests for support through Twitter and on this blog, over $3,000 has been raised in less than 48 hours.

According to Angela, the blogger who originally posted this story, "Over six thousand people have come to the site, commented, e-mailed me directly, or are talking about this situation in a variety of forums and, of course, on Twitter." 

The power of social media is at work here. Jaeli is living proof.
