Disney shines with their newest animated film, Bolt, starring John Travolta and Miley Cyrus. Bolt is a superdog, trained for TV and tattooed with a black lightning bolt on his side. When Penny, his female co-star and favorite person is in danger, Bolt uses his super powers to save her. Whether it's his super bark, his super stare, or his super strong skull (that stops moving vehicles), his purpose in life is to keep Penny safe, no matter what.

The young actress, Penny, cares for Bolt as if he were her own pet and wants to take him home for the weekend so he can have a chance at living a real life outside the studio trailers. When her request is denied, she leaves Bolt behind, only to harassed by the two cats that taunt and tease him, convincing him that Penny is in danger.

Bolt escapes and finds himself in New York, thousands of miles away from Hollywood, and the girl he's determined to rescue. Soon after he arrives in a strange city, he's introduced to Mittens, a female street cat who continues to tease the super dog who has been lead to believe that his super powers are real.

Mittens soon realizes that Bolt is a Hollywood star and with the help of his biggest fan, Rhino, the three embark on a journey across the United States. Mittens inspires Bolt to enjoy the simple pleasures of being a true dog while he reluctantly comes to understand that he is only a star on TV and that Penny is only acting like his most loyal companion.

Determined to prove his loyalty to her, Bolt reaches Hollywood only to find Penny and the replacement that took over his role. When the time comes for Bolt to save Penny from real danger, Bolt steps in, rescues her and receives the recognition that he truly needs.

Bolt is a great family film that left many young viewers sitting on the edge of their seats for the entire length of the film. From car chases to slapstick humor usually found in cartoons, Bolt charges his way into the hearts of movie-goers, both young and old. Highly recommended for anyone who loves dogs, superheroes and adventure.
