The classic film Easy Rider with legendary actor Dennis Hopper moved -- and in many cases changed -- people’s lives four decades ago. But it wasn’t until last night when our CineVegas Film Festival chairman took his family to see Cirque Du Soleil’s Beatles musical Love at The Mirage that we learned of the John Lennon connection!

Dennis was accompanied by his wife, children and granddaughter, all of whom bopped along to the music and joined in the standing ovation at the end of the show. After the spectacular, Dennis took his family backstage and posed for photos with the cast.

During contributing photographer Ana Dobrijevic’s shoot, Dennis’ family shared an interesting anecdote that he has never spoken about before. They revealed that John Lennon had told Dennis when they met that he wrote “Come Together” after seeing Dennis’ performance in Easy Rider.

Now that’s a Love connection!

Father and son Caans

Meantime, back at the Brenden Theatres in the Palms, I interviewed actor James Caan and his actor son Scott Caan before they walked the red carpet for the premiere screening of Scott’s new film Mercy. Our contributing photographer Denise Truscello was on the scene for my conversation with them -- and when Dad gave his son a congratulations kiss on the cheek for the movie.

We’ll have my interview with the Caan men posted later, plus all the CineVegas events of Day 4. This afternoon, we’ll be back at the Palms to talk one-on-one with movie master Jon Voight -- yes, he’s Angelina Jolie’s father -- before he’s presented with the Vanguard Award for his contributions to the motion picture industry.
