Here's a deal for you:  Restaurant.com is offering 80% off their already discounted gift certificates for local restaurants.  Go to www.restaurant.com and find your favorite restaurant, and in the checkout screen enter code TASTE to receive an additional 80% off.  For most restaurants, you can get a $25 gift certificate for $10, and today you'll get an additional $8 off.  That equals a $25 gift card for a mere $2.

Too good to be true?  I would actually call these coupons instead of certificates -- all the restaurants have restrictions regarding how big the tab has to be (usually one $25 coupon for a $50 bill), and some stipulate which days of the week they can be redeemed, and others say the coupon cannot be used toward alcohol.  Either way, if you spend fifty bucks at your favorite hangout, you'll pay only twenty-five plus the two dollars you spent to buy the gift certificate.

Make sure you are okay with the restrictions before you buy, and remember to enter TASTE in the discount code box on the checkout screen.  If you've been itching to try a restaurant, this is a good way to try it on the cheap, and there are some big local names on the list, including An American Place, Monarch and The Crossing.

Check it out yourself here:  www.restaurant.com
