GREASE, the musical, opens August 25, 2009, and runs through August 30 at the Carr Performing Arts Centre. The name “Grease” came from blue-collar teenagers known as “greasers.” When the musical first came out, the subject matter was grittier, but with time, it has seen revisions that make it suitable for more audiences. The most famous actor playing the part of “bad boy” Danny was John Travolta who fell for Sandy (Olivia Newton-John).
Now, parents and grandparents can introduce a younger generation to the T-birds, poodle skirts, and drive-ins of that much simpler time. America Idol Taylor Hicks reprises the role of Teen Angel, once played by Frankie Avalon, with Eric Schneider as Danny and Emily Padgett as Sandy. The show brings back songs like “Grease,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” “We Go Together,” and “You’re the One I Want.”
The show takes place at the Carr Performing Arts Center at 401 West Livingston Street, Orlando, Florida 32801. Ticket prices vary from $37 – $71. GREASE is not included in the season package.
