Since this year’s debut of master chef Michelle Bernstein’s top-of-the-tapas spot, Sra. Martinez in the Miami Design District, flagship restaurant Michy’s has lost some of its star appeal. Luckily, the renowned chef is reverting back to her roots, revamping Michy’s summer menu with added plates to draw back old fans and new diners.
Staying true to the originally Michy’s way, patrons can still find two staple menu categories: Raw Bar and Plates of Resistance. Additions include a makeover of the classic wedge, where veteran ingredients (iceberg lettuce, bacon and creamy blue cheese) find a happy marriage with seasonal Florida heirloom tomatoes, with a spicy friend onions for heat and avocados to add a creamy finish. Indulge in Michy’s fresh catches, magnificent plates like seared salmon with artichokes, faro and cippolini onions and the house-made seafood tagliatelle, where scallops, mussels, clams and diced shrimp are aplenty. In search of some comfort food? Dig into hearty fried chicken and grits served with decadent coleslaw and slice of summer watermelon to seal the deal.
For those looking to ease that aching sweet tooth, need not despair. Michy’s bread pudding is still a standout on the menu, along with her luscious baked Alaska – a sprinkled confection of pistachio cake as the centerpiece, alongside a scoop of dulce de leche ice cream and passion fruit salsa to pack a fruity punch.
Michy’s is located at 6927 Biscayne Boulevard in Miami. Dinner is served Tuesday – Thursday, 6:30-11:00 p.m., Friday & Saturday, 6:00-11:30 p.m., and Sunday, from 6:00-10:00 p.m.
