More About "A Pure Country Gift"
As mentioned in A Pure Country Gift with Katrina Elam, Travis Fimmel, J.D. Parker and appearances by George Strait, I had the opportunity to work as an extra in the upcoming movie A Pure Country Gift which features music, film and TV stars including Katrina Elam, Travis Fimmel, Dean Cain, J.D. Parker and George Strait.
The extras were given a plot synopsis the day we shot the Talk Show scenes at Nashville's Northstar Studios, but I wanted to be careful not to leak any spoilers before the movie's producers were ready to start divulging details. Since more details appeared in print today, here is a plot synopsis, straight from the set of A Pure Country Gift.
"Pure Country"
Directed by Chris Cain, who also shot the first film Pure Country, A Pure Country Gift is not exactly a sequel to Pure Country. However, George Strait, who was the lead in the first movie in 1992, does have a role in the second film and was scheduled to appear at a shoot in Lebanon this past Friday. (See the trailer for the original "Pure Country" below.)
"A Pure Country Gift"
A Pure Country Gift is the story of Bobbie Thomas, a baby girl who is gifted with a beautiful singing voice by three angels when she is born. With that voice come certain responsibilities in the form of three rules laid down by the angels, rules that Bobbie must be honest, loyal and caring to those around her. In the course of her rise to fame, she breaks all three rules with the result that Bobbie loses her voice right before a big concert. Does she get it back? You'll just have to watch the movie and see - I can't give away ALL the secrets!
Chris Cain, who co-wrote the screenplay with his son, "Lois & Clark" actor Dean Cain, told hollywoodreporter.com, "Life has rules; if you follow them, life works. That's the moral of the story."
Christopher Cain's son, Dean Cain plays a director in the film, and Chris Cain's wife Sharon Thomas plays the talk show host, Marilyn, and his daughter Krisinda Cain has a role as "Sis" - making the movie a real family affair.
Other actors lined up for the cast include Katrina Elam as Bobbie Thomas, Travis Fimmel as her cowboy love interest Dale, J.D. Parker as her estranged father Roy, and George Strait as her country-music mentor. William Katt has role as do several other Hollywood types. Rumor has it there may be other familar country-western music faces in cameo appearances.
