Do you need some last-minute ideas on what to do for Halloween this year? Following are some suggestions for activities on the town or at home for Halloween in Nashville.

Halloween with Kevin Max, Knapsackheroes! and Collier October 30

Kevin Max is bringing his Monster Mash to The Rutledge in downtown Nashville on Friday, October 30th. Monster Mash is for the 18 and older crowd, and will feature an evening of 80's-themed cover songs by former dcTalk member Kevin Max as well as special performances by Knapsackheroes! and Collier.

Doors open at 8pm tonight for Kevin Max's Monster Mash, and the show starts at 9pm.  Details at: Kevin Max brings Monster Mash to Nashville October 30

Halloween at Rocketown October 30 and 31

Nashville's teen club Rocketown, which is staffed by Christians but features all kinds of music including satanic metal, offers two concert shows for Halloween.

On Friday, October 30th, Rocketown hosts Acrasia, Ghosts Of Antietam, Dependency, and A Legacy Untold. The show starts at 6pm and tickets are  $6.

On Saturday, October 31, Rocketown features their "Night Of The Devil Slayers" with A Plea For Purging, Alcina, Alert The Sky, At The Throne Of Judgment, As Hell Retreats, Goodbye Apathy, Modern Hell, Hundredth, When War Breaks Out, and Ashes From Another. Tickets are $10 at the door, and doors open at 5:45pm.  Teens are invited to come in costume but no masks will be allowed. After the Halloween show, Qdoba will be hosting an after party for guests of the Rocketown Halloween show. Little House on the Prairie

Although this is not a Halloween musical, 'Little House on the Prairie - the Musical' is playing at TPAC now through November 1. If you want something festive where your kids can dress up in their pioneer best for Halloween, this is a great family-friendly activity at TPAC, and I really did see lots of kids dressed up in costume the night I attended. Details at 'Little House on the Prairie - the Musical' brings Melissa Gilbert and Little House books to TPAC.

Rent a Scary Movie for Halloween

If you don't want to go out on Halloween, rent a Halloween movie. Here are three I have enjoyed recently:

House - If you want to see a faith-based scary movie for Halloween, House is the one to see. Based upon the best-selling Christian fiction horror novel by Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti, House released on DVD in April 2009. The movie caused some controversy in Christian circles as a "Christian horror film," but House provides both scares and a moral. Read my review at Christian horror movie 'House.'

The Lost Colony: The Legend of Roanoke (Wraiths of Roanoke) - Starring Highlander's Adrian Paul, this 2007 Sci-Fi original movie about the lost colony of Roanoke provides enough scares to be rated R. While the special effects are a little cheesy, Lost Colony offers a creepy theory on what happened to the lost colony of Roanoke as well as a loosely interpreted look at life in colonial Roanoke. Read my review at The Lost Colony: The Legend of Roanoke.

Twilight - With New Moon coming out soon, Halloween is the perfect time to revisit the spooky little town of Forks, Washington by watching Twilight again. This vampire tale is actually faith based, written by a Morman mother, who incorporates themes of temptation and abstinence into this love story.

Falls Fests

Visit a Fall Fest or Trunk 'R Treat. Many Nashville area churches are hosting fall fests for kids and families. Bellevue Baptist Church, for instance, is having a Family Fall Festival on October 31 from 2 - 4. Call a church near you to see what they are offering.

Put Up a Halloween Doll Display

I admit it; I collect dolls. Dolls may not be your thing, but they make for colorful Halloween displays. Check mine out at: Halloween doll display - a variety of Halloween dolls for fall display and Trick or treat? Halloween Barbie dolls from 1963 to present (with Barbie Halloween slideshow).

If you don't collect dolls, find a way to incorporate another hobby into your Halloween decorating. It's a great way to add color and whimsey to your home. Whatever you chose to do on Halloween this year, have a safe and happy Nashville Halloween!
