Second Annual Amy Grant & Friends Yard Sale

The Second Annual Amy Grant & Friends Yard Sale took place today at David Lipscomb University, and even overcast skies accompanied by a chilly fall breeze didn't keep people from coming and shopping for bargains. The yard sale was held from 7AM to 2 PM at the Lipscomb campus' University Park, and the lawn was full of some 14 tents and many more tables selling everything from toys and linens to Chick Fil-A sandwiches, computers, vacuum cleaners and furniture, and even the proverbial kitchen sink! (See slideshow below.)

Amy Grant - Heart Still in Motion

The biggest buzz was at the tent surrounded by tables marked "Gill." There Amy Grant sold items from the Grant/Gill household: glassware, clothing, dolls, kitchen ware, linens and much more. Yard sale volunteers told me they had been at Lipscomb since well before 7 AM setting up and that Amy Grant had been there working the entire time. Not only was she selling all sorts of items for $1 apiece, but she was also autographing them! I purchased a lovely Christmas keepsake book from Grant as well as a Barbie doll and a couple of gift items and had them all signed. When I present them to the lucky recipients, I will point out -  they may be used, but they're also autographed by Amy Grant!

"We've had a very good turnout," Amy Grant told me between customers, pointing out that many tables which had previously been full of merchandise now sat empty. Grant said not only had she and husband Vince Gill donated items, but her youngest daughter had donated items for the charity yard sale as well, indicating some naked Barbie dolls.

The sun finally appeared about the time everything except the furniture was marked down to a dime, and the tables were almost empty by 1:00PM. Anything left over from the Amy Grant & Friends Yard Sale was being donated to local charities, as were all the proceeds.

Hats off to Amy Grant and all her volunteers for a successful yard sale and a job well done for local organizations Project Redesign and Project S.E.E.
