During summer time the Downtown Neighborhood Association puts on a Farmers Market every Thursday from 10 am to 4 pm.  This "Harvest Market" is located in the parking lot in front of the downtown Post Office (at the corner of Highland and Douglas).

The first Harvest Market of 2009 is this Thursday, June 11th.  I cannot wait!  According to the press release there will be bread, pies, cookies, scones, and muffins in addition to fruits and veggies.  (Anyone who knows me knows that I love me some good bread, pies, cookies, scones, and muffins.)

This year there will be special events at each Harvest Market.  This week the Chicago Bandits softball team will be there doing a "Veggie Pitch" from 11 am - 2 pm.  At noon there will be a cooking demonstration of veggie kabobs with Virginia Lopez.

In addition to the events there will be an artist exhibit, free blood pressure screenings, solar ovens on display, and more.  Hope to see you there!
