Is Elgin Community College moving to Spring Hill Mall?

If you live in or near Elgin, Illinois, you have probably heard the gossip this past year:  Spring Hill Mall is going bankrupt.  ECC wants to buy it and hold classes there.  Secret deals are being made behind closed doors.

Dr. Sam, President of ECC, took to the internet to dispel these rumors.  His letter to community members is available here.  The bottom line is summed up in this one sentence:

Please accept this communication as official confirmation that Elgin Community College has no intention of purchasing Spring Hill Mall and has not engaged in any discussions or negotiations with anyone to that end.

I am sure the City of Elgin is rather happy about this, but what does everyone think?  Will Spring Hill eventually close like many malls are doing?  Will ECC need to expand beyond its current campus?
