Do people appreciate the voice of a "Nobody"? Let’s give it a try. In the frantic internet world of massive information dissemination, readers are often looking for words of enlightenment, perhaps words of wisdom, humor, encouragement, and even affirmation of their own personal beliefs. People resort to the internet for information, for various reasons.
Here in San Diego, California, a place some like to refer to as “America’s Finest City” internet navigators gravitate to websites like this one, Examiner.com, looking for something fulfilling, something new and refreshing, newsworthy, perhaps even shocking. “Who did what? Wow!”
However, what happens when - as an internet surfer - you run into something like this; something that offers neither controversy, excitement, shock value, dismay, or compassion? Do you quickly tune it out?
Are there things in your life that drive you to a website like Examiner.com to read things that you hope will do something for you? Do you happen to stumble upon such a website through pure happenstance as you search for a specific topic you’d like to catch up on?
The following are a few of the “hot topics” fluttering around the web regularly:
- healthcare reform
- immigration reform
- anything on President Obama
- Sarah Palin’s new book
- David Letterman’s issues with extortion
- Rush Limbaugh looking to purchase the St. Louis Rams
- MLB playoffs
- The new NFL season
- Brett Favre
- Glenn Beck resonating with the masses
- Christianity in America
- Michael Moore’s “Capitalism: A Love Story
- The H1N1 “swine flu” virus
Sorry to disappoint you today. None of these will be covered here. But if you’re anxious to share your views on any one of the above mentioned issues, or any other one not mentioned, feel free to do so. I’m sure others will be eager to read what you have to say and chime in with their views as well. Remember, though, that the manner in which you express yourself has a direct effect on the overall public perception on the specific issue you’re tackling. Are you doing yourself and/or your cause a favor? Do you even care?
