Dear Mr. President,
You have in front of you the words written by a big "Nobody" and an American at that. These are the words from a Nobody with no fame, money, or wealth to speak of, nor connections to any fame, money, or wealth.
You're also receiving this from a very imperfect man, one who has been, even in the recent past, quick to point the finger at others and strike with the tongue; an adulterer, fornicator, liar, cheater, and blasphemer. Simply put, a sinner of typical proportions.
Well, Mr. President, recently, the Lord has come and knocked on my door. He has found a way to bring me to my knees, to humble me, and to make me understand that the world does not need more finger-pointers.
In fact, the Lord has been a-knockin' for quite a while, only to have my pride and my ego tell him, time and time again, "Sorry dude....No Solicitors!"
But the Lord has made me know now, in no uncertain terms, that the road to eternal life in the presence of the Almighty rests not in our own understanding, strength, will, and intelligence, but on his mercy, his forgiveness of our sinful nature through the sacrifice of his only son, Jesus Christ, crucified on the cross.
I've come to learn that the road there is not a broad and easy one, but a narrow and difficult one. It is one that requires faith and the surrendering of our "life" to him.
For a while now, Mr. President, you've known that you are always in somebody's line of sight. Every word you utter, every trip you make, hand you shake, smile you express, and posture you exhude is watched intensely by all of us.
Policies enacted, contemplated, and abandoned get their shares of cheers and jeers.
At this time, Mr. President, I simply pray that you seek not the wisdom of "powerful" men, but that of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
As you stand before the world, faced with countless, important decisions, rely not on your own uderstanding, ego, or pride, nor the counsel of flawed and sinful men, before you seek the guidance and wisdom of God.
Though everyone remembers how you so strongly and eloquently campaigned only a few months back for this new role you now play, that you made promises and pointed fingers at others' "poor decisions", the fact is you deserve our prayers.
You deserve our sympathy for being the leader of a world gone astray; a world very much in tune not with the things of Heaven and God, but of perdition and eternal death.
We pray Mr. President, that soon you will begin to turn to the written word of God for comfort, guidance, inspiration, faith, and strength. We pray for your beautiful family and their salvation, as well as yours.
Mr. President, when alone in silence, away from the constant bombardment of your "advisers", look up towards the heavens and ask God, not only for forgiveness - if there is a need to - but thank him for the many blessings he has already bestowed upon you.
Turn to him with humility, offer your life as a service to him, he will smile down upon you and bless you in ways you cannot even begin to imagine.
As leader of the "free world," Mr. President, you have a golden opportunity to serve and to be a light in the midst of darkness.
We pray for these things in the name of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
