Lucky AMA member scores 2 Triumph Bonnevilles in raffle

Editor's Note: I've had several enquiries from readers over the past several months asking me who finally won this year's AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame fundraiser raffle - so here's the answer courtesy of the museum:
Talk about luck. Phil Kreuter of Goshen, Ind., and his brother, Chris, pulled up to the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum in Pickerington, Ohio, with an empty enclosed trailer on Nov. 5. When they departed, their trailer was loaded with two beautiful Triumph Bonnevilles—a classic 1959 model and a modern 2009 version.
Phil Kreuter was the fortunate winner in the Hall of Fame's 2009 fundraising raffle that featured these two great machines.
"Triumph Motorcycle www.triumph.co.uk/usa/) donated the 2009 machine, allowing the Hall of Fame to offer this fantastic bookend set," said Dan Smith of the Hall of Fame.
"Motohio (www.motohio.com/default.asp) just down the street here did a wonderful job prepping the new bike and handling the paperwork so that there would be no hassles when Mr. Kreuter came to pick up his bikes. We really want to thank both of these great companies for making this year’s raffle one to remember."
Kreuter's name was randomly chosen from among thousands that were entered to win the bike. The drawing was held during AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, July 25.
"I thought somebody was fooling me, but nobody knew I bought the tickets," Kreuter said, explaining how he felt when he learned he had won. "I thought nobody wins these things."
Kreuter, who has attended several AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days events, said he bought five raffle tickets online for $20 in hopes of winning the pair of Triumphs.
"They look beautiful," he said when he arrived at the Hall of Fame to take away the machines. "I don't know what I'll do with them, but I've got to ride them at least a little bit."
Chris Krueter, who works with his brother Phil at their company, KMC Controls in Goshen, was impressed by the bikes.
"That's a nice, matching commemorative set," Chris noted.
Out of earshot of Phil, Chris also said he believes he will be able to convince his brother to let him take the bikes for a ride.
"We have to do it before it starts snowing," he said.
For 2010, the Hall of Fame is once again offering two bikes in its raffle drawing. A lucky winner, whose name will be drawn during the 2010 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, July 9-11, will win a meticulously restored 1969 Honda CB750K0 Sandcast as well as a 1965 Honda Cub C100 with just one mile on the odometer.
