Most of us like to bathe every day. We also like to brush our teeth once in the morning and once before we go back to bed (the more dentally proficient also like to floss). When our hair gets long, we like to drive to the barber for a trim. We also store basic supplies like cotton swabs and mouth wash in our homes to help us keep fresh.
Having good hygiene is one of the basic tenants of healthy living, but just making the outside look and smell good isn’t nearly enough. We also have to focus on what we are putting inside our bodies (are you treating yourself like a beat up junker or a high end German sports car?). In addition, we should consider how we spend our time and what we can do to engage ourselves more holistically.
It’s not like we really enjoy showering (unless you’re covered in mud or something), but we do it because we know that showering is good for us (and everybody around us). In the same way, we need to consume more good stuff (peaches, blueberries, etc), engage our minds (trade the television for a book), and get our bodies in motion (off your butt and onto that treadmill). You have to get it engrained in your brain that the whole point of healthy living is to benefit you.
