
Its Halloween and many costumes are form fitting, skimpy, and short. If you are down to the wire, and want to look your best, here are some tips to look your leanest.
Avoid fake sugar
Fake sugars (nutrasweet, Splenda, sucralose) are recognized as foreign compounds to your body. When your body doesn't know how to break something down, it causes bloating during digestion. Avoid anything with hidden fake sugars and gums (gum, cellulose, fillers) for two days before your event, and you can help avoid tummy pooch.
Work up a good sweat
Not only will you help to burn some calories, but working up a good sweat can help you shed water weight as well, and make your muscles look more toned. Celebrities are known to do several sets of abdominal crunches and push ups before an event in order to look their most buff in shoulder and midriff baring outfits. Boosting your circulation with a workout also helps to give you a healthy glow and flush out puffiness.
Drink herbal tea and water
We all know that drinking more water actually helps you cut down on water weight. In order to maximize your hydration and water cutting, try an herbal tea with dandelion root or uvi ursi. Both are herbal compounds that help to cut out excess water weight.
Give yourself a lymphatic draining massage
Although most people think cellulite is simply fat, its a special kind of fat. Caused by genetics and poor circulation, small amounts of fat become trapped between layers of tissue. This is why even thin people can have cellulite. Losing weight all over can help to reduce cellulite, but boosting circulation can help as well. Avoid anything processed or enhanced with artificial flavors and preservatives, which can worsen cellulite. To boost lymphatic circulation and help reduce cellulite appearance, you can give yourself a lymphatic massage. While in the shower, take a dry loofah and begin at your feet and massage in a circular motion up to your shoulders. Afterwards, give yourself a cellulite wrap using coffee grounds (not burning hot!) and saran wrap tightly wrapped around your thighs for 15 minutes. The caffeine helps shrink tissue and reduce jiggle.
Avoid starch
When you deprive your body of sugars from carbohydrates, your body must dip into it's stores of glycogen in skeletal muscle for energy. In doing so, your body uses a lot of water in this process and shrinks a bit. This is why low carbohydrate diets produce rapid, and fleeting, weight loss. Although I don't recommend severe carbohydrate restriction for a long term weight loss plan, on the day of an event sticking to vegetables (avoid celery and brocolli bloat) and lean proteins can make you feel and look leaner.
