Levi Johnston is probably the most unlikely kid to become a celebrity. Yet while still having demonstrating no talent that is worthy of an audience, Johnston is set to get far more than just fifteen minutes of fame. He may be well on his way to a career that few would turn down if offered.

Johnston, you may recall, is the young man from Wasilla, Alaska, who is the biological father of the infant son of the teenage daughter of the former governor of Alaska who was also once a U.S. vice presidential candidate. All the tawdriness of his family and his girlfriend's family only continue to keep his name in the popular press, and that makes him somewhat of a novelty - one that could make a bit of money if played right. Suddenly, Levi Johnston has a lawyer, celebrity appearances and few other things under his belt which make him at least a C-lister, one up from Kathy Griffin.

All because his teenage girlfriend Bristol is the daughter of the hugely popular former governor Sarah Palin. Magically, a baby was conceived, and now Johnston is on a bullet train to international stardom that should have crashed and burned over a year ago. For fun and profit, he's decided not to be a responsible father and instead hire an entertainment attorney to see if there is any life left in his sudden celebrity by proxy. And for now, his efforts appear to be working well.

Johnston, without having so much as performed at a small club as a stand-up, has been featured in a pistachio commercial, attended events as Kathy Griffin's date, and even landed a spot as Man of the Month for Playgirl Magazine. Graduates of Julliard should be so lucky (and make no mistake, almost all at Julliard would jump at the chance to be so famous).

Of course, no Rocket to the Moon is a smooth ride. The young man from Wasilla is now apparently having regrets about posing naked for Playboy, which is ironic, because I think most people would pose nude if the paycheck was decent, as I'm sure his was. To be sure, the nude pics and the publicity can only help his career, whatever it is, whatever it will become. His challenge now is to stay in the public limelight with a good image, unlike Jon Gosselin and other young men who had the world at their feet and didn't know what to do with it. So far, Johnston has demonstrated that he is politically and celebrity savvy. If he can just keep things moving along, the sky really is the limit for him.

Which raises an interesting question: what really is the limit for him? Paris Hilton built an international empire out of absolutely nothing, namely talent. Jerry Seinfeld built one of the best shows on television around absolutely nothing. Things of value really do come out of thin air on occasion. Levi Johnston could be one of them.

I hope for his sake, he can keep a sense of humor and realize all of his celebrity for what it is, and it ain't much. If he can stay a part of the joke, he'll profit nicely. If he starts taking himself seriously, he's headed for the dust bin of one-hit wonders who never had a hit. Only in American can you become as star without having any talent. Well, that's not true anymore, but only in American does it still pay fairly decently - until the IRS gets involved.
