The next quest for Indiana Jones star, Harrison Ford — a green wedding with long-time sweetheart Calista Flockhart.
The Hollywood hero proposed to the “Ally McBeal” star on Valentine’s Day earlier this year while on vacation with Flockhart’s adopted son Liam.
Now it looks like it will be “lights, action, green” for the upcoming nuptials.
“I haven't thought about greening my wedding. My wedding was always going to be green," said Harrison, a vice-chair on Conservation International's board of directors, at a Team Earth event in New York on September 21.
The long-standing environmental activist has been dating Flockhart since 2002.
In addition to an environmentally friendly wedding, the couple has reportedly said they would like a low-key ceremony attended by close friends and family.
According to Our Planet, a United Nations environmental magazine, Ford believes that “conservation of biodiversity is the issue of our times.”
The magazine says Ford became interested in the environment after purchasing a breathtaking 325-hectare ranch in Jackson, Wyoming, and developing a “sense of stewardship” about it. Ford has donated nearly half of his property to the Jackson Hole Land Trust for conservation.
Ford has been widely recognized for his environmental and humanitarian work with awards such as the Good Steward Award from the International Conservation Caucus Foundation, Heart of the City Award from City Harvest for fighting hunger, the Distinguished Humanitarian Award from B’nai B’rith, and the Global Environmental Citizen Award from Harvard Medical School's Center for Health and the Global Environment.
