When it comes to decorating for the ceremony, Brides (and sometimes floral designers) often neglect one of the more focal points of the day… the aisle.

The aisle get’s you from point A to point B – AND it takes you from being single to being married.

Aisles offer many opportunities for some very imaginative decorations, for instance, if you’re planning your wedding inside, you can line the aisle with hurricane lanterns topped-off with small bouquets.

More fun ideas that can really add to the atmosphere and be functional are to create unusual wreaths to suit your design theme that you can use to decorate and reserve aisles for family and friends. You can make one with fall leaves, spring flowers, shells for summer and with fluffy white tissue and pearls for winter. These are inexpensive and something you can do yourself well ahead of time.

For a spectacular front door touch, with a heavenly scent, you can create a garland of lilies for the spring and summer or a beautiful hydrangea wreath. Another fun way to personalize your front doors is to hang your initials – either wooden or in flowers. What a terrific way to welcome your guests!

For outdoor weddings, an incredible way to decorate your aisle is to create two long, lush flower arrangements flanking the aisle. This serves two purposes: to prompt guests to take their seats from the outside, and to direct attention to the altar.

Saving the best for last… the most dramatic aisle treatment is to create a path, heavily covered with rose and mixed flower petals, with large hurricane vases containing floating candles and rose petals placed on either side. This is by far, the most romantic way for you to make an entrance into your wedding and will be something the people will talk about for a long time to come.
