Jason Kidd, NBA

Jason Kidd is staying in Big D for at least 3 more years after signing a $25 million dollar contract with the Mavericks.

"We are excited that JKidd and the Mavs have reached an agreement to have Jason return to the Mavs, "Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said. "We look forward to him continuing to take a major role with the team."

Signing Kidd to a 3-year deal may not be the smartest move Mark Cuban has made. Kidd is 36 years old and may not have any gas left in his tank in two or three years. It would be a good move to start grooming a replacement for Kidd before it's too late.

For the upcoming season Kidd will be valuable to Dallas. The former 9-time All-Star led the Mavericks to a first round Playoff victory over the San Antonio Spurs last season. Kidd has the respect of his team-mates and is the leader of the Mavericks on both ends of the floor.

The Mavericks are also expected to sign Magic center Marcin Gortat for the mid-level exception of $5.6 million dollars.
