Thunder sign Nenad Krstic
The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed center Nenad Krstic for $16 million dollars over the next three seasons. Krstic has not played in the NBA this season.
The New Jersey Nets did not invite Krstic back to the team this past summer which prompted him to sign with Russia's Triumph Lyubertsy. The Nets owned the rights to Krstic and declined to match the offer given by Oklahoma City.
The Thunder is the worst team in the NBA with a record of 3-29. They are currently loaded with big men which makes this signing very suspect. I would expect some players to be moved before the February trading deadline.
The Thunder currently have four centers (Nenad Krstic, Robert Swift, Mouhamed Sene, and Johan Petro) and four power forwards (Joe Smith, Chris Wilcox, D.J. White, and Nick Collison) under contract. Rumors are floating around that Joe Smith will be bought of his contract in order to play for a championship contender.
"We are pleased to be able to add Nenad to our organization," said Thunder GM Sam Presti. "He is someone that we feel helps this team both in the short and long term. We are excited that he will be a part of the Thunder as we continue to build our team here in Oklahoma City."
Krstic certainly helps Oklahoma City as he has NBA experience and the ability to score in the post. Krstic has career averages of 11.3 points and 5.7 rebounds.
