Thought driving season was over? Hardly! Book your seat now for a 600-hp NASCAR adventure at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Colorado Springs this November. The speedway announced a partnership today with the Richard Petty Driving Experience to bring the “thrill factor of driving or riding in 600-hp NASCAR-style stock cars” to your backyard.
The inaugural NASCAR-style Driving and Ride-Along Experience runs November 17-21 at PPIR. Motorsports enthusiasts can reserve their spot at www.1800bePetty.com or www.ppir.com. Sessions are limited, so reservations will be on a first-come basis.
The local motorsports community was thrilled last year when Pikes Peak - after sitting dormant for several years - was purchased by a private team of auto enthusiasts. Once a home for professional NASCAR and Indy events, the facility now focuses on grassroots racers - from novice to aspiring pros - as well as corporate marketing and team building events. Drivers can take their pick from a 1 mile oval, paved infield road course or giant autocross pad - plus rumor has it there is a whole new road coarse under construction in the backyard.
Presumably the Richard Petty experience will give an authentic sense of what sustained extreme high speed driving on a banked oval course is really like from inside the cockpit. 2008 saw more than 100,000 participants at 20 speedways nationwide enjoy the ride - or drive! - of their life. Add this one to your holiday wish list!
