When a couple says for better or worse, til death we do part, they do not usually give a lot of thought as to how bad things can actually get. For Julie and Mike Boyde of Ambridge, Pennsylvania, the reality came far too soon.
According to AOLHealth.com, the Boydes had condom-less sex for the first time on their wedding night. To their surprise, there was immediate “excruciating pain” for Julie. She was later diagnosed with a rare and incurable disorder called “seminal plasma hypersensitivity” which simply means that she is “allergic to her husband’s sperm”.
Saying I do does not guarantee a problem free life. More couples need to realize this. It would be nice for marriage to be one problem free romantic fantasy. Unfortunately, that just isn’t the reality.
Chances are, you will not have to experience an allergic reaction to your spouse. Somewhere along your journey, however…something is going to come along and test your commitment to one another. It may be illness, finances, the loss of a child, infidelity, depression or something else.
Those words, for better or worse, til death we do part are loaded with possibilities. Do not say them without giving them the thought that they deserve. You owe it to yourself and to your marriage.
