Attorney General Tom Corbett will be announcing his plans to run for Governor of Pennsylvania tonight at 7pm at Heinz History Center.

The event is the first stop on a 10-day tour of the state that will end in Philadelphia on Sept. 24.

Corbett formerly served as district attorney in Allegheny County and an assistant to the United States Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Later he was appointed to monitor the Allegheny County jail during the time it was under the courts supervision until then President George H.W Bush appointed him to serve as the United States Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Corbett was first elected Attorney General in 2004 and successfully reelected to a second term in 2008.

Tonight, Corbett will be kicking off his campaign for the 2010 Republican gubernatorial nomination.
