First Half:
-Right out of the gate, you have the feeling that defense was the focus early on.
- That defense lead to a 12-4 run to start the game.
- With the help of swing man John Salmons the Kings were able to withstand the run and come back with a run or their own and that feeling of defense on Miami's part quickly dissipated.
- Deaquan Cook made his debut after injuring his knee with just under 4 minutes left in the first.
- Cook starts off 2-2 from the arch and looking like he hasn't missed a beat.
- James Jones comes on to the court for the first time this year to start the second half.
- His first touch comes on an outlet pass from Chalmers that leads to an offensive foul for using his off hand. Shaking off some rust is expected since he has not played a real game since April 16, 2008.
- James saw just over three minutes of playing time before going back to the bench for the remainder of the game.
- The Kings up tempo style of offense gave the Heat problems with Miami losing the fast break race 12 - 4 at half time.
- What's the point of starting Joel Anthony and then not playing him the rest of the half?
- John Salmons ends the half with a perfect 6-6 from the field leading the Kings with 16 points.
- The second quarter ends at 62-58 with the Heat on the losing end due to a whole lot of offense and just not enough defense.
Second Half:
- Miami starts out the second half 0-4 from the field with a pair of turnovers.
- A few hustle plays later and the Heat tie the game on a Michael Beasley pick and pop play with Mario Chalmers.
- The third quarter consisted of little to no ball movement. Most of the time it was either Dwyane Wade or Michael Beasley going one on one against his man.
- Miami never really found a hook that can hold Mr. Salmons and down the stretch he just faded away from being an offensive threat.
- Michael Beasley starts the fourth quarter on a 7 point tear to close the ten point gap down to three. Not only was he scoring but having fun doing it too as you can see him sing Gloria Gaynor's "I will survive" and doing the electric slide during a commercial break.
- Miami takes the lead for the first time in the game since the opening quarter with just over eight minutes left in the 4th quarter.
- For those who think a Heat-Kings trade for Brad Miller wouldn't help the Heat, just look at Magloire(nine rebounds in 15 minutes of play). Now imagine Magloire having some post moves, a solid mid-range jumper, and guard like passing ability.
- Wade and Chalmers miss two big free throws down the line that lead to the Kings making a few miracle plays that end up sending the game in to over time.
- In over time, it was an all out brawl with both teams trading baskets which eventually ended with Dwyane Wade hitting a contested three pointer to tie the game. Then after some good defense, Miami closed out the game by going 4-4 from the free throw line to ice the game.
