Halloween is fast approaching in metro Detroit. Halloween is usually associated with things that are spooky and even scary. Scary movies and costume, along with haunted houses seem to be the norm. Not everyone likes the spooky factor in life. If one does not resonate with the spooky factor of Halloween, here are some ideas for all ages:
Have a Halloween party with a fun theme such as fairies and angels. Or, one can select a time period in history, having guests dress in period costumes. There are usually cute versions of the spooky costumes for adults and children.
Use one’s creativity to make handmade decorations instead of the store-bought type. Pumpkins can be carved in fun, cute ways. One can make delicious goodies such as baked goods to celebrate the day in style.
Avoid scary haunted houses or events and instead, do other fun, fall activities such as picking apples, going to the cider mill, or having a bonfire.
Donate coins given to trick-or-treaters to a favorite charity. This is a great way to pay it forward to help others.
Instead of scary ghost stories, tell funny stories about ghosts. This is a fun activity for all ages.
