If you want to go just a little bit wild at your wedding, patterned satin fabrics are the latest and most exciting trend for spring 2010 wedding décor. Satin has long been prized for its true color and is available in virtually every subtle hue of the rainbow. In addition, satin’s sleek finish and lustrous sheen make it a favorite for wedding and bridesmaid gowns. For these same reasons, satin is a popular choice for linens at the reception. It looks good, it feels good and unless it is real silk, it is very reasonably priced.
Satin has had its limitations, though. Until now, satin has been limited to solid colors. Though that has always been beautiful, if you wanted a second color or a little pattern, you had no choice but to add a second fabric. The second or third fabric cost more and added layers to the gown or décor.
Now, in time for late fall events and spring and summer weddings, fabric manufacturers have introduced some of the most intriguing and glamorous fabrics we’ve seen in a very long time. Strong black and whites in big and little dots, stripes, swirls and baroque patterned satins are just some of the luscious choices brides can have starting now. If color is your thing, chocolate paired with pink and aqua, and black contrasted with fuchsia and canary yellow make a striking statement in gorgeous satin chamuse. At The Linen House, a bold zebra print in the new black and white satin dresses a black tablecloth (above left). It is paired with a black and white tuxedo satin chair cover tied with a ruby red sash. A white napkin wrapped with a red napkin cord sits on alternating black and white plates. Red roses on the tabletop finish the look. For any of these black and white patterns consider adding a strong third color of true red, fuchsia, orange, turquoise, yellow or apple green.
We'd love to hear your creative ideas on how you would use these striking new fabrics.
