Purple made this wedding a royal event

Purple made this wedding a royal eventPurple is considered the color of royalty.  Purple was certainly at the forefront when The Woodlands exclusive private Club at Carlton Woods played host to a predominately purple wedding of royal proportions.  The clubhouse at the Nicklaus golf course was the site of the canopied outdoor ceremony overlooking the small lake.  Following the ceremony, the large bridal party – 34 members all dressed in chocolate and lavender – stayed for about an hour to enjoy a private dinner while the 350 guests were shuttled over to the Fazio clubhouse a half mile away.  Once at Fazio the guests were bombarded with the bride’s exquisite color scheme from ceiling to floor.

Draping inside one of the Fazio dining rooms gave the impression of a round sultan’s tent with shades of lavender, lilac and plum covering the ceiling and draping the walls. The Linen House provided lavender satin tablecloths, plum satin chair sashes alternating with beaded organza chair caps. Chocolate shantung napkins secured with silver beaded napkin rings were set atop silver beaded chargers.  Alternating high and low centerpieces of lavender and white calla lilies arrangements by The Blooming Idea were the perfect compliment to the drama of the room.  Lounge seating draped in plum reinforced the idea that flying carpets, rather than stretch limos, might deliver the wedding party.

To accommodate the many guests the patio was tented and draped in the trifecta of purples as well.  In this area, plum pleated tablecloths from The Linen House dressed the patio tables. The chairs featured lavender organza sashes alternated with the same beaded chair caps as the indoor area.  The tables were set with the chocolate shantung napkins, beaded napkin rings and silver beaded chargers.  A large circular buffet area, complete with ice sculptures, welcomed the guests with the aroma of chef’s finest cuisine.

As guests entered the patio all eyes were drawn to the elevated sweetheart table. A white soutache tablecloth and sweeping chair cover in the same fabric was reserved for the bride. Rhinestone and pearl accents dressed the back of her chair. The groom’s chair featured a replica of his tuxedo and was accented with the white soutache fabric from the tablecloth and bride’s table.  Baby makes three for the happy couple and his high chair was decorated in a miniature version of the groom’s chair.

Cakes by Gina produced two magnificent wedding cakes.  The bride’s cake was an exquisitely detailed 3 tiered square featuring silver, lavender and chocolate accents.  The silver filigreed cake stand sat on linens designed by The Linen House. The set was comprised of lavender and plum satin welted-edged tablecloths swagged over exposed sequined tulle petticoats.  The groom’s cake was a chocolate and sugar confection one would be hard pressed to believe was not an actual box of cigars. A simple mocha satin tablecloth dressed his table.

To encourage guests to really enjoy the party, the ladies each received a pair of lavender Isotoner satin ballerina slippers as their favor.  Encouraged to stash their heels under the table and dance the night away in the slippers, this thoughtful gift will be appreciated for a long time to come. Gentlemen – and lady – cigar aficionados received an individually glass encased cigar to smoke at their leisure.  The match book reminded the guests the couple was ‘a perfect match.’

Whether you are royalty or just enjoy being treated as such, shades of purple in the right proportions and proper shades can make your wedding a very royal event.
