Kat Von D. might be the first person surprised by her status as national "sex symbol," according to Fox News headlines. But the dark haired beauty is happy to know that her alternative look and flair for creating incredible tattooed art is accepted so well by her audience.
“I am happy that people like diversity. For women, a lot of it has to do with how you carry yourself. You can be heavily tattooed and still carry yourself in a feminine way,” she told interviewers.
Kat's popularity is steadily building and not just because she's dating Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx. Her LA tattoo parlor has built a solid reputation, fueled even more by the hit reality show "LA Ink." It's also a new way for Kat to show off her diverse skills as an artist. Viewers watch from start to finish as she inks everything from portraits to creative images.
During Kat's television fame, she's also been pressed to pose for photo shoots. Model, artist, and actress? That's the life she's learning to feel comfortable in. "People think I am this huge rocker chic," she confided, "but I am really just a softy at heart. I like to read a lot; I like to play classical music.”
A little bit of trivia.
Kat was born in Mexico and moved to Los Angeles at the age of 4. She owns her own line of makeup, sold at the store Sephora. She was entered into the Guiness Book of World Records for giving the most tattoos in a 24-hour period, her total was 400.
