Regional Wine Week begins on Sunday, October 11th and lasts through Saturday, October 17th. There are many ways to participate for wine enthusiasts to wine novices. Some ways to participate include:
Visit a local winery. This would make a great Sunday outing. Many find visiting a winery an enjoyable experience. You will have an opportunity to taste a range of wines. Many of these wines can only be purchased at the winery. If you don’t enjoy crowds consider visiting a winery during mid-week when they aren’t as busy.
Drink a local wine. Whether you purchase a local wine at a winery or a corner wine shop, see what your region can create.
Ask for a local wine in a restaurant.Note that not all restaurants serve local wines. Check your local winery’s website. Often these websites list restaurants that serve their wines.
Write about a local wine on a blog, Facebook or Twitter. Inform friends and followers about local wines by making posts on the Internet.
Use a local wine in a recipe. Check the Recipe section of the Wine Trail Traveler site for over 100 recipes that use wine as an ingredient.A local wine can be substituted for the wine mentioned in the recipe. For example, if the recipe calls for a Merlot, use a local Merlot.
Have a wine Tasting with local wines. Invite family, friends or neighbors to an informal gathering where they can taste local wines. You can also pair local wines with local cheeses and other local foods.
