Dogs 101: How to Simplify Rules of Etiquette at Dog Park?

Many people don't realize how important it is to create a sense of park community. It would be a much more enjoyable place if everyone helped each other out. Everyone should contribute to creating the park a fun and safe place for their dogs as well as others. Most people love to go to the dog park with their dogs, why not make it more fun for everyone? Get to know each owner and their dog. The more often you go to the dog park, the more people you will see and meet. Why not make conversation and make it fun for you as well as your dog, you may even make a new friend.

Appropriate Dog Behavior
1. Your dog(s) must be current on all shots.
2. Do not bring aggressive dogs in to the park.
3. Do not bring your puppy if under 3 months of age. They are not fully immunized yet and so they are at a higher risk for getting a disease.
4. Do not bring a female dog that is in heat in to the park.
5. Your dog(s) should not jump on other people. They also should not "mark" their territory on other people.
6. Dogs should not be overbearing, annoying, or bullying to others dogs.

Appropriate Owner Behavior
1. Please obey all park rules.
2. Make sure your dog's feces are cleaned up. Poop bags are usually supplied, so please take advatange of them.
3. You should supervise you dog(s) at all times.
4. At the first sign of aggression your dog(s) should be taken out of the park.
5. Leash your dog(s) when entering and exiting the park.
6. Do not punish another owner's dog, leave that up to them.
7. If you are unhappy with another dog's behavior and their owner is unwilling to leave the park then you should leave the park instead.
8. Do not pet another dog unless the owner says it is okay.
9. Make sure holes created by your dog are covered with dirt before you leave.
10. Do not bring food in to the park. Also limit the amount of personal toys and treats you bring.
