After a breathtaking opening night in Barcelona, U2’s world tour “U2 360” is clearly a sight to be seen. Their second show in Spain last Thursday night also proved to be quite spectacular.
U2 decided to mix up their setlist for that show, throwing in songs like “Desire”, “Party Girl”, and “Electrical Storm”. The band also performed two different versions of their upcoming single “I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight”. For the complete setlist, check it out here.
As for the choice of “Electrical Storm” being in the show (the track is from the “Best of 1990-2000” record) Bono told the crowd, “We’d like to play a song we’ve never played before, except when we recorded it. Could be interesting… interesting is ok…”
The band also gave a background check to a song from their latest album, “No Line on the Horizon”. “Unknown Caller” is about a down-on-his-luck guy “at the end of his rope” who is alone in a hotel room and gets mystery text messages on his phone, despite not being able to pick up a signal. “He doesn’t know who it’s coming from… God, his best mate… but it gets him out alive,” said Bono.
I’m sure a lot of people who are attending the tour, and even those who aren’t, are curious about the “space station” design of the band’s stage. U2.com has a great video on their site of the band performing on the tour’s opening night. And definitely check out one of my favorite sites, u2gigs.com for more videos and pictures. U2’s tour continues tonight and tomorrow night in Milan, Italy.
I happen to love "Electrical Storm" and I'm hoping they have it in the setlist when I see them in September. Here's the performance from Thursday night for those of you who also love the song.
