In fact, it’s going on right now as I write this! After months of waiting since the announcement was made in March, U2’s world tour “U2 360” makes it debut in Barcelona to thousands of fans waiting to sing along to hits both old and new.
Right now, it’s a little after 10pm in Barcelona, so U2 is probably on stage right now. The opening act for both Spain shows (U2 plays again on July 2) is Snow Patrol.
For anyone curious about all of the rehearsals U2 had in Spain before tonight’s kickoff, check out (SPOILER ALERT!) u2gigs.com for their incredible coverage. They have setlists the band performed over the last few days and even some video coverage.
But for even better insight into the tour, U2’s website is still the first place to stop. Its held a countdown to tonight’s show with videos uploaded by the band and great articles. So please check it out as well.
Does anyone have a favorite moment from a U2 concert they went to? Anything that happened that you still remember to this day? I’m sure this tour will pack a lot of surprises and that every show will be different. Which I think is what makes U2 so great- who wants to be predictable when you can constantly do something different and get your fans excited over it?
If anyone went to the kickoff in Spain tonight, please post about it. I can’t wait to hear how it was!!
Below is a clip of my favorite U2 concert moment. It’s actually the last time I saw them live. It was at Madison Square Garden in NYC on October 7th 2005. I remember seeing them in Jersey that May and was disappointed they didn’t do “With or Without You”. But they played it that night at MSG and I was elated. I remember the girl being picked out from the audience and my friend and I were jealous that she got to be on stage with Bono. On the YouTube page, the person who posted this video said that the girl, named Mary, passed away last year. I’m happy she got to live in this incredible moment.
