The Bible is the ultimate authority in all things religious and in life-matters.  Why? Because it is the word and wisdom of God himself, passed on by Him through the Holy Spirit to become the scriptures that guide us. God is the source of all Biblical scripture.

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness ..." 2 Timothy 3:16

He tells us in the book of Revelation not to dare to change a word of it

"I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book." Revelation 22:18-19

I hear people say that they don't believe the Bible is actually the word of God or that it seems to contradict itself. I will hold to my position that the Bible is the inspired infallible word of God until they show me something better.

Can you imagine telling your children to go to the local pornographer to ask him how important he thinks it is for them to protect themselves and their eventual spouse/marriage by preserving their virginity until marriage? Granted the local pornographer may give sound advice about such matters based on his first hand knowledge of the fruits of promiscuity -- the diseases, the broken trust and the emotional baggage that comes along with such activity; but, he might just consider his bank account more important than the truth and tell your loved ones about all of the perceived benefits of early involvement in sex.

There is no one who is more knowledgeable about what is good or bad for someone than their creator. Their creator knows exactly how they are made, what works, what doesn't work and what the consequences are for abusing or mistreating His creation. One thing you can be certain of is that the creator is always looking out for the well-being of his creation.  Since our creator doesn't learn by trial and error you know that the product is as good as it can be right out of the box. There is no trial version.  There are no 1.1 or 1.2 updates. God gets it right the first time.

God made us to be self-regenerating everliving eternal machines. When Adam sinned God turned off or altered some of the genetic programming that made us immortal and will not turn it back on until Jesus returns. Apparently some DNA investigating has shown that some tissues are only allowed by internal coding to regenerate a finite or "x" number of times until they shut off, thus allowing degeneration to occur instead of regeneration. In the meantime, we will pay the price by being susceptible to disease and injury and just wearing out or running down to the point that this earthly body can no longer process enough oxygen and/or nutrients to sustain itself; thus beginning the degenerative process in earnest.

The reason I went through this convoluted process is to lay the groundwork for the assumption that no one knows the creation better than the creator.  I wouldn't want to take advice from someone if I wasn't sure of their knowledge or their motives.  We know that God knows everything and loves all of His children to the exclusion of none.  God's motives are always pure and His knowledge is supreme. No one knows more about you or cares more for you than God does.  His advice is the best you can get at any price.

Where and how do we get God's advice?  The simple truth is that we study the Bible until we find a place in there where He addresses the problems or issues we are facing.  He tells us how to live, how to treat our neighbors and how to regain the immortality that we lost generations ago.

If my child goes to a pornographer and gets advice that is contradicted by God's word who should he listen to?  If my child goes to a pastor and gets advice that is contradicted by God's word who should he listen to?  The correct answer is to always listen to the word of God -- always!
