The running gods were smiling on Saturday morning for the New York Road Runners Dash 10K (Formerly Dash and Splash). The rain held off in Central Park just long enough for a great 10k event. The sun was even out for a short period. It was a bit on the warm side, at 71 degrees, with 62% humidity. The New York Road Runners organization was well prepared for the warmer temperatures, with frozen fruit bars in the post finish area.
Over 4,500 runners turned out for the event, which is almost capacity for an NYRR Central Park Race (now capped at 5000 participants). There were 2394 men finishers and 2126 women finishers. The male winner was Paul Martelletti, who hails from the UK. Paul clocked a 32:02 time. Jillian Mastrioanni (pictured right) brought it home for the female runners, crossing the line at 37:36. Full results can be found here.
Congratulations to all of those who finished the 2009 Dash 10k. Thanks also to the NYRR and volunteers for making it such a fun and successful event.
