The Sixers have played four games in 2009-10. They have won two and lost two.
They have done some things well. Marreese Speights has been impressive off the bench. Elton Brand looks healthy. Andre Iguodala has been active.
But there are holes, especially when it comes to defense. Specifically, stopping the 3-point shot has been quite difficult.
On Opening Night, the Orlando Magic hit 16-of-29 from beyond the arc. On Tuesday, the Celtics drilled 14-of-20 with Rasheed Wallace connecting on 6-of-8.
More troubling is this: many of the 3-pointers have been wide open looks. The Sixers seem to have trouble rotating and getting a hand in the shooter's face.
Even more troubling is this: the Sixers are not hitting 3-pointers of their own. They were 1-of-16 against Celtics. They were 0-of-14 until rookie Jrue Holiday knocked one down with 1:28 remaining in a 105-74 blowout.
Sixers coach Eddie Jordan doesn't seem to be overly concerned. But he should.
