The support of some Senate Democrats for the proposed health care reform bill may be wavering. The Senate cannot pass its health reform proposal without the vote of all its Democratic members.
CNN reported today that former President Bill Clinton will make a presentation on the importance of passing the health care legislation. The presentation will take place at the weekly Democratic caucus lunch.
Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leader, sent a memo to all Senate Democrats asking them to attend the weekly luncheon. Clinton’s message apparently will focus on the what could happen on the next election day if the Congressional Democrats fail to pass health care reform.
House Democrats approved their version of health care reform over the weekend. Their bill is long and expensive. In it’s present configuration, the House bill will cost over a trillion dollars over the next decade.

If and when the Senate passes a proposal of its own, the Senate and House versions would then be sent to a conference committee. It would be the responsibility of that committee to merge the two proposals.
The merged version would then have to pass in both the Senate and the House before it could be sent to the President for signing.
